Treat Recurring Urinary Tract Infections Naturally

I firmly believe that only a fellow UTI sufferer can truly understand how excruciatingly painful a bad attack can be! As a regular victim of the past, I have spent many a night sitting in a lukewarm bath or doubled over on the bedroom floor trying to get some relief.

Although there are ways to treat recurrent UTIs naturally, I didn’t know this at the time and resorted to the old familiarity of visiting my doctor for another prescription of antibiotics which certainly took the edge off…at least they did! at first!

I eventually found that my attacks became more frequent and the antibiotics became less effective. I didn’t realize at the time that antibiotic resistance is a huge problem all over the world and it’s a well known fact that the more we take them, the less effective they become as our bodies get used to them and the bacteria what is supposed kill become better and better at adapting to survive.

There are a number of simple steps you can take to treat recurrent urinary tract infections naturally, and if your symptoms are mild, these may be enough to get you on the road to recovery. First of all, drink more. You should try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day, as this can help flush impurities out of your bladder. Also, if you can also avoid caffeinated beverages and alcohol, this is certainly beneficial. Another drink that is great for those of us with UTI issues is unsweetened cranberry juice, as it contains a component that makes the walls of the bladder slippery and therefore bacteria are less likely to be controlled .

Some women find that their bouts of recurrent urinary tract infections are triggered by using scented toiletries and feminine hygiene products such as sprays and wipes. Therefore, it is a good idea to stop using these products and only wash twice a day with unscented soaps. It’s also wise to try to allow air to circulate around the vaginal area, so wearing cotton underwear and avoiding tights and tight pants are also wise precautions.

Personally, I have always found that sitting in a warm bath would help me considerably relieve pain when nothing else seemed to help.
