Color Suggestions for Wedding Attendees

Colors like wine/cream, wine/champagne, and wine/gold are really nice colors for an October wedding. I think those color choices complement each other beautifully, particularly the wine, gold, and champagne. Other colors to add that would go well would be a deeper shade of copper and another lighter/darker red. Since it will be the fall time of the year, you could always pair oranges there too with flowers and centerpieces.

September is a month when you can really wear some of the deep, rich colors. Consider combining green, which you like, with browns, yellows, oranges, reds and cream. It would also look nice with cocoa and cream colors. Keep your attendees in mind when selecting colors, as you want everyone to look good in the colors.

For example, you could have your attendees wear cocoa-colored dresses with a cream-colored sash and carry bouquets of the rich mixed colors. This is a way to tie up on the green.

You could also use it on bedding. I think if you use green as an accent it should work beautifully. Once you’ve selected your florist, they’ll also be able to help you match the colors.

You need to select your own dress first (if you haven’t already), and then choose the dresses for your attendees.

The light green would pair beautifully with a darker green or a darker red/orange. This would “cast” the color into a more summer-fall transitional theme. You can use three colors: the light green, a darker green (dark sage, hunter, etc.), and pair it with a gold, yellow, burnt orange, or deep red to make a statement.

I’m not sure how you want to introduce the new color(s), but I’d suggest bringing in more pink or maybe gold, since the colors you’ve already chosen are ‘warm’. The weather can be complemented with claret accents which would look lovely.

Colors are traditionally kept for the bridal party (bride, BM, MOH, groomsmen) to make them more distinguishable. Moms usually match the bridal party, but only to complement rather than match.
If they wanted to complement, you could always look for some type of patterned material with an ivory/cream/gold background, with the pattern in mauve or pink.

I think it works well to give the color swatches and then the ladies can shop for their matching outfits (as long as they check so they don’t end up with the same or similar outfits!).

Like I said, introducing more colors can complicate the look, but choosing subtler shades as suggested should enrich the look without cluttering it up.

Would it be possible to make the bridesmaids dresses match their sash color and then accessorize with hot pink and sea green sashes? This takes the theme of your pale blush color, but also brings it to life. Use silver as your accent color, both in bouquets and table settings.

Another color that would work is coconut brown with pink or blush sashes. However, brown would really need gold instead of silver. A rich cream would also look beautiful with green and pink accents.

Yes, all three colors would look great together. If you use the lighter colors, wear heavier fabric, since the wedding is in October.

Yellow and orange would also work.

I am getting married in August 2007 my colors are going to be red and black.

First, the first thing I would say would be to keep all the white for your bouquet. Your maidens should have red. Stick with black for the ribbon only. The reason is that any flower that is black… will look like a hole in the photos. You can use your white as a fill… if you want to soften the red.

As for where you should buy your flowers? For fresh flowers… I’m always encouraging local vendors first. But if you’re having a hard time getting the flowers you really want, or if there’s a shortage of the type of flowers you’d like, I’d go online as a last resort for fresh flowers. Always ask for a proof if you go with an internet source.
