How to compose a song

Music … who can do without it? It has turned out to become an important part of our lives. Not a day goes by without you hearing at least one consistent sound.

I have trained a lot of people musically and when it comes to learning or composing a song, they usually ask me this question: ‘How can I compose a song?’

Basically, the score of a song depends on many factors, such as the learning speed, the technicality of the song, the texture of your voice, etc. You must understand that composing a song, regardless of the factors, takes time and concentration. So to really deal with a song like the original or even better, you have to pay attention to it and more.

How to compose a song

With the following tips here, you can get to writing a song with little to no stress.

1. Know the lyrics – You must have at hand the lyrics of the song you want to mark so as not to sing the wrong things or to perfect your ignorance and foolishness. Once you sing a song with the wrong lyrics, it will be difficult for you to unlearn it.

2. Follow a voice signature – In a song specially made by choirs, you can hear many voices singing different parts. You should understand that in most choir arrangements, you would usually have the lead singer (who does all the improvisations) and the other 3 main parts of the chorus: soprano, tenor, and alto. You would have to learn to listen to a particular voice signature and sing exactly what it is doing.

3. Be a doer – You must learn to do exactly what the lead singer is doing … don’t be afraid to try the different scales that he can run over the course of the song. By doing so, you learn to sing. Music runs like a cycle … the runs and scales that you learn from a song that you have previously scored, can be used in various other songs that you will encounter.

I know these few tips will help you compose the music for almost any song, regardless of its technicality.
