Tips when installing corner bathtubs

Although you have many different options when installing a bathtub in your bathroom, there may be times when corner bathtubs are preferable to any other type. This is especially the case when you are dealing with limited amounts of space or perhaps if plumbing is only available in that area. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of Kohler and corner bathtubs available on the market, one of which is sure to be a perfect fit for your own living space. However, before choosing between these corner bathtubs, it is important that you consider a few things.

First of all, you need to make sure that you measure accurately to fit the bathtub in the corner correctly. Not only do you need to consider the size of the tub itself, but you also need to consider any type of installation features that are installed in conjunction with the tub. For example, many corner bathtubs are installed in such a way that they actually sit on a standing platform. You can go in thinking about the size of the tub and forget about the deck while you measure it. Others may be all-in and are pre-finished on both the exterior and interior.

One problem you may run into is that bathtub installation is often beyond the ability of someone who likes to do the job themselves. Not only do you need to line the drain properly to ensure it doesn’t leak, there are a number of other issues you may run into that may require the use of a contractor. Always make sure to give yourself extra time when doing a project yourself, as you will invariably run into problems along the way.

You also may not want to buy something new and there are certainly some vintage corner bathtubs that are great for use in any home. Although they are not the most common, you can even find an old cast iron bathtub that will look good in a corner. Often times, you can find them in your local area at some antique stores, but it may take a bit of internet searching to find exactly what you need to fit you right.

Finally, you want to make sure that any corner bathtub you buy is well-appointed with any accessories you might like as well. For example, many of these bathtubs will sink, making them a perfect area for a Jacuzzi. Often these corner baths come equipped with small jets already installed, but there are also some installation kits that can install the jets once the bath is already in place. The look of corner bathtubs can also be changed quite easily by changing the accessories. In fact, many people like to upgrade their bathtub fixtures from what comes standard, as it often gives a more classic look.
