The different volleyball services

In the sport of volleyball, there are only three serves that are going to be the most effective (I’m definitely not talking about the under serve). Those three services, when used effectively, will result in points. If you want to be a good player, you will need to master these skills.

Top spin serve, float serve, and jump serve are the three serves that will most influence your game. These are the only effective serves you will see in competitive volleyball. If you want to succeed at volleyball, you must learn to perform these services.

So let’s take a look at them:

Top Spin

The top spin serve is a serve that makes the ball look like a curve ball thrown by a baseball player. The ball curves downward. The way to do this is to put as many spin on the ball as possible. By hitting the ball very hard and snapping your wrist, you should make the ball spin toward the ground as it crosses the net. This is a difficult service to receive because the recipients of the service will get closer to the network than they think they should be.

The float

The float is a good serve because this will make the ball do really strange things. It is called a floating serve because the ball appears to float and does not want to come down from the air. Also, the ball moves very strangely, back and forth, and service receivers have a hard time reading the path of the ball. A good floating serve should have almost no spin, should have a good rhythm and should go over the net, as low as possible.

The jump service

By far, the jump serve will be the fastest and hardest serve there is. A player literally throws the ball into the air and takes the same approach as if he were shooting. The player jumps and hits the ball with an extreme top spin. This service is served faster than any other service, up to 100 mph. This serve is ideal for intimidating the opponent.

There you go. These are the best serves you will see in volleyball. Take your time to master these serves and you will be a great player.
