Rabbits can do many amazing things. As the popularity of rabbits increases, so does the need for facts. There are so many things that people need to know about rabbits. It was extremely difficult to compile a list that would cover everything…so I didn’t. The following list is a compilation of weird or surprising facts about rabbits that either surprised me and blew me away when I found out about them or were too unique not to share. Here is the list:

1. Many know that rabbits are well known for their mating habits. In fact, some cultures recognize rabbits as a symbol of fertility. But did you know that rabbits can give birth up to eight times a year (this falls into the awesome category)!

2. Rabbits sweat, and they do so through pads on their feet.

3. After mating, the male rabbit collapses into a coma for about fifteen seconds.

4. By turning rabbits onto their backs and sliding them from side to side it is possible to induce a trance state. What this means is that it is theoretically possible to hypnotize rabbits.

5. Rabbits are the only animals besides cats that have induced ovulation cycles.

6. The rabbit has two cervixes (again with its mouth open).

7. More rabbits, on average, suffer from heat stroke than any other animal.

8. Those huge ears you see on rabbits aren’t just for show, rabbits have incredible hearing. They are even able to hear a falcon flying hundreds and hundreds of feet in the sky.
