Delray Beach Travel Guide

Delray Beach is located in Palm Beach County of Florida and sits on the Atlantic Ocean. It is known as one of the best tourist cities in the world. With more than two miles of sandy shoreline, about a million people visit Delray Municipal Beach and Atlantic Dunes Park, at the southern end of Delray Beach.

Delray Beach’s cleanliness and good management have led to it being voted Blue Wave Beach by the Clean Beaches Council. Basic amenities are available here and easy beach access for people of all ages and groups makes it one of the best beaches on the US East Coast.

It is voted the #1 Beach in Palm Beach County by South Florida Parenting Magazine and Delray Municipal Beach is ranked the Best Swimming Beach in the Southeast by Travel Holiday Magazine.

Most preferred by people looking to relax and enjoy their beach vacation, one can just sit back and enjoy the stunning sunrise or play beach volleyball with friends and family. You can also go surfing or sailing on the beach.

The Delray Shipwreck is a State Historic Site and is located about a hundred yards from Delray Beach. They are the best dive sites in the area and divers dive here in search of the wreckage of the SS Inchulva, a ship that sank in 1903 off the Delray coast.

Atlantic Dunes Park has a nature trail and a boardwalk. It’s a well-maintained park and after a day at the beach, sunbathers take a stroll along the boardwalk, it’s a walkway that runs parallel to the scenic A1A state highway. From the beach pavilion overlooking the ocean, many people enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

There are five oceanfront and beachfront parks, two inshore parks, eight community parks, and five sports fields; the city also offers many recreational activities for all people.

Palm Beach County is considered the golf capital of the United States. Golf courses of all kinds, from executive to championship, are here and golfers, from beginner to experienced, can find a course to their liking. Delray Beach golf courses are known to be a golfer’s paradise.

Delray Beach cruises are available and you can take in the sights while sipping your favorite beverage aboard a cruise. Marine life in its natural habitat can be seen on a cruise and see some of the most beautiful mansions in the area.

There are better tennis courts in Delray Beach and it hosts some of the major tournaments like Davis Cup Playoffs, Delray Beach International Tennis Championships and Fed Cup Playoffs.

After enjoying a day at the beach, evenings can be spent in downtown Delray Beach. It is a cultural, residential and commercial center. There are many art galleries, shopping venues, fine restaurants, and nightclubs in the area.

Every Friday night from 7 pm to 10 pm on Atlantic Avenue, there is Gallery Walk where all of downtown’s art studios, showrooms and galleries are open for the public to enjoy an evening of music, art and snacks.
