Can’t you put that phone down?

Who doesn’t have a mobile phone these days? It’s actually a pointless question, even grandparents and children since kindergarten know how to use a mobile phone. Billions already own one or two phones, and the numbers continue to grow. Cell phones are indeed very useful when it comes to communication, unlike before; you must wait days before your letter can reach its addressee. Now, you just need to wait a few seconds after pressing “SEND” and your friend can read your message instantly. Images, videos, blog posts, you name it; people had revolutionized the mobile phone system.

In fact, you can do “everything” on it, surf the web, shop, or even pay your bills. So it’s not that hard to figure out why some of the teens just can’t put down those phones. Studies show that mobile phone addiction is caused by the urge to communicate with peers. Teenagers, who have large groups of friends, tend to text every minute about endless conversations. The SMS WORLD had become their refuge, their “happy place”, which makes them more intact to their phones. Here are three songs that show too much addiction on mobile phones:

1. It’s like it’s glued to your hand, dude. – if you can’t put your phone down even for five minutes, and you still can’t put it down even to go to the bathroom, then you have a phone addiction problem. Remember, your messages won’t leak while you’re in the bathroom; or your friend you are texting may wait a few minutes for your reply. You don’t need to rush.

2. Can you hear it too? – This could also be called paranoia, when you thought you heard your phone ring when in fact it didn’t. You have to stop thinking that your ringtone is ringing while you are doing your homework. Messages won’t delete themselves, so you can review them after you’ve finished what you were doing.

3. Bills, bills, and yes, more bills. – If you’re on a postpaid plan and your bill is over your limit, then you need to have more control over what you’re doing with your phone. You don’t have to spend hours calling your boyfriend or girlfriend when you can only see each other at school or on dates. You also don’t have to send morning, lunch and evening greetings to ALL your friends in your phone book. They’ll just delete it, anyway.

4. Welcome, dear, in detention. -Your teacher caught you using the phone during her class and unfortunately she gave you a detention. Clean the bathroom, do the debriefs and visual aids, and stay in the detention room with the losers. And it can even get worse, believe me.

5. Goodbye, Phone, Goodbye. – Phones also have their limits, it’s like everything in your house. If overused, it can wear off like anything else. Now, you wouldn’t know what to happen, would you? Especially if it’s your first phone your dad gave you or the most expensive one you own. You won’t lose it if you take care of it properly.

Controlling yourself is very important and stop depending or getting attached to things, like your mobile phone. Balance must be a factor in our lives and excessive use causes complications in any aspect. You may not know it, but people may use ELISA test kits on you thinking you’re on drugs and so addicted to your phone. Be balanced, organized and “normal”, use your phone correctly and only on important things. It’s not a crime to keep in touch with your friends and family, just don’t scold them and you’ll be fine.
