Blinder Laser Blocker Review

The Blinder M27 is Blinder’s new and improved version of the M25. With more powerful jamming heads, the M27 is a widely used blocker.

Looking at the two units in a side-by-side comparison, the M 27 is nearly identical to the M25. From the mounting brackets, CPU, cabling, and interference headers, the M-27 is indistinguishable from its big brother. From the factory, Blinder has included all the necessary cabling, an external speaker, the CPU, and two interference heads.

Installation is almost effortless. Being somewhat familiar with automotive electronics, an amateur installer can easily connect this unit. All that is needed is a power supply and a ground connection. Wiring the jamming heads through the firewall is easy thanks to phone-style connectors that are small enough to fit through the smallest hole. Then all that remains is to mount the interference heads. This is where it gets a bit tricky.

The mounting brackets are independent of each other, meaning each side of the jammer head is supported by a separate bracket. To function properly, the heads of the jammers are required to be perfectly straight and perfectly level with the road. This means that for the heads to mount correctly, you need to find 2 separate, perfectly level surfaces on the car. This might be easy if it mounts to the top of a bumper, but most people don’t want two large locking heads sitting awkwardly on the front of their vehicle. Proper head installation is difficult to complete on many vehicles, which is why most armor users create their own mounting brackets.

Once the heads are mounted correctly, the M27 is much improved over the previous version. With more powerful heads and a fully upgradeable CPU, this new unit is ready for all new LIDAR guns that come out. In most cases, this unit will jam the LIDAR all the way to the weapon. However, the Blinder runs into some interference issues.

With certain weapons, such as the Ultralyte LR-B, the Blinder laser jammer will occasionally miss. Independent testing has shown that vehicles with two interference heads at the front of the vehicle fail to cover highly reflective areas such as headlights. This is particularly undesirable because police officers are often trained to aim for headlights when an instant speed reading is not forthcoming. To fix this, a type of headlight laser shield may be necessary. Laser Veil is a liquid paint that is applied to headlights. Applying this to the headlights will greatly help the Blinder to get better blocking results.

Another solution is the Blinder M47. This is the M27 with two additional jamming heads. If a user is having trouble with the M27’s jamming capabilities, the two additional heads are great for better results. The two additional jamming heads will make the vehicle bulletproof for most LIDAR guns in almost all situations.

Overall, the M27 is a high-quality, high-performing jammer. The M27 is suitable for smaller vehicles with a smaller profile. The M47 is used to cover weak spots in smaller vehicles or protect large trucks or SUVs.
