What is the best time to publish a blog post?

Knowledge when publishing is as important as what post. Post an awesome piece of content at the wrong time and you will lose a lot of traffic.

That’s why you need a set schedule for publishing your blog post. According to KissMetrics, a good day to publish posts is Monday for traffic and Saturday for comments.

A Track Maven study showed that “leisure hours” are by far the best for engagement. This means after 6:00 pm in most cases. One of the few exceptions would be on weekends, where data shows that Internet users log on to their favorite Internet-connected devices much earlier in the day.

  • Saturday is the best post release day for engagement and comments.

  • Monday after 6pm is when you should post for maximum traffic.

  • Any day of the week after 6:00 pm will improve the level of engagement with your audience.

  • Spend as much time as it takes to create your post the day before it goes live and schedule an auto post for the right time.

You’ve published your post, now what do you do?

If you just hit post and do nothing else, you probably shouldn’t be in the blogging game. Here are 10 tips for after you hit the publish button.

  1. Tweet just the headline. If the title of it is worth it, this should generate some interest and clicks.

  2. Make a video version of your post and upload it to YouTube, Vimeo and other video sharing sites. Keep your video under 1 minute and make it an enticing summary that links to your full blog post.

  3. Take the highlights of your post and compile them into a PDF. Post that PDF for free on PDF sharing sites.

  4. Add an email to your autoresponder sequence, with a link to your blog post.

  5. Turn your post into an infographic and share it on social media.

  6. Get social. You probably already post your new content on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and other major social sites. However, there are over 100 social networking sites on the web, so why not share your post with each one of them?

  7. Visit the question and answer sites. Quora, Yahoo Answers, and similar sites are full of people asking for solutions to problems. Find people asking similar questions to the ones you answer in your post, and then link to your new content.

  8. Link to your previous posts. Internal links going from your previously published pages and posts to your new post are a free source of site traffic, and Google has stated that it improves your chances for free organic traffic.

  9. Join forums, chat rooms, and online communities in your niche. Link to your new post.

  10. Repeat. Don’t just post your post to Facebook once and consider it done. Less than 10% of your followers see any post you make. This means that repetition, on Facebook and other web properties, is likely necessary for your post to get the widest possible audience.
