Thinking of purchasing a pay-as-you-go mobile phone? Not sure which one to choose? Here’s a quick review of each of the best-selling Pay As You Go mobile phones. These are the most popular phones that people tend to choose when shopping for a new prepaid phone.

Samsung J700

The Samsung J700 has a glossy, mirror-like surface with a smooth swipe action. It comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera so you can always capture those special moments. It also has basic video capture and playback functions, Bluetooth, FM radio and MP3 player. Up to 2 GB of music can be stored on a microSD card. Weighing just 92g if one of the lightest slider phones available, and at 14.7mm thick, it fits comfortably in your pocket.

The Nokia 2610 is a capable mobile when it comes to doing what mobile phones do best. With a simple keypad layout and Nokia’s simple menu system, it’s a very easy phone to use. Although it’s classified as an entry-level phone, the 2610 looks great and still has a large screen with 65,000 colors. It’s also tri-band, so you can use it almost anywhere in the world. If you dig into the 2610’s specs, you’ll find that it has 24 polyphonic ringtones and even some MP3 ringtones pre-installed on its limited 3MB memory.

The integrated MP3 player has dedicated buttons for play, pause, forward and rewind. The sound quality is clear and there is a standard 3.5mm jack plug, you can connect your own headphones without using an adapter. The Nokia 5800 Xpress Music has a 3.2-inch touch screen and the latest S60 interface, specially adapted for touch control. As the XpressMusic name suggests, this is a fantastic music phone. There’s an accelerometer, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, FM radio, and a TV-out port for watching videos or playing the built-in games on its big screen. The camera of the Nokia 5800 has 3.2 megapixels and a dual LED flash. This may not sound impressive, but you have a high-quality Carl Zeiss and that makes all the difference. Photos are noticeably better compared to those taken with an iPhone or older generation camera phone. The built-in web browser is excellent. The screen renders quickly and web pages can be dragged with one finger or zoomed with a double tap on the screen. The Nokia 5800 has 3G, HSDPA and Wi-Fi. The Nokia 6300 supports microSD cards for additional memory and has Bluetooth, a web browser and a basic email client. In summary, this is a great mobile, easy to use, functional and adaptable.

Similar in size to the more advanced Nokia 6120 classic smartphone, the 6500 classic is the more attractive of the two. Its rounded edges, chrome accents and clean lines make it look like a modern 3G phone. It has a 2 megapixel camera, a built-in MP3 player and a generous 1 GB internal memory. This is an attractive phone and very easy to use. If you are looking for something more advanced, you can consider the classic Nokia 6120 smartphone, which adds video calling and some other smartphone features. But if you want something less complicated that looks great and still has the benefit of 3G downloads, then this might be the phone for you.
