Miracles in the life of Saint John Vianney

There were many miracles in the life of Saint John Vianney the Curé of Ars. The most famous possibly survived an attack by the devil that set his bed on fire.

And the miraculous apparition of Our Lady, but there were also two miracles that we want to talk about today that you may not be aware of. These two are the multiplication of flour in the kitchen of La Providencia, her school across the street for her rectory, and the miracle of wine.

The Miracle of the Multiplication of Flour.

Once, in La Providencia, there was not enough flour to bake even an oven full of bread. The mill could not grind the wheat that had been sent. There was enough flour to bake three loaves of bread. When they saw that there was not enough flour to feed all the girls in the school, they went to see John Vianney.

He told them to use what little they had.

They took the small amount of flour they had and began to knead it. The pan was filled, overflowing with dough like the days when they had a big sack of flour. If John Vianney had prayed

Did he ask the Lord to multiply the loaves as he had done on the Mount of Beatitudes? It is definite that a Miracle was granted by the Lord for the spiritual children of John Vianney. Was it through his intercession? What do you think?

The Miracle of Wine.

One day, John Vianney approached his people and informed them that a barrel full of wine had split open, spilling its contents onto the sandy ground. Sure enough, when they investigated, the barrel was empty. They tried to salvage what they could of the clearer wine from the arena. They could barely pick up two small buckets of clear wine.

They poured what little they had into a cask that was nearly empty. To their astonishment, they kept drawing water from the barrel for days, until there was nothing left!

In addition to the now empty barrel was another wine barrel, half full. They decided to pour the 50 liters of wine from the half-full barrel into the empty one next to it, which had a capacity of 200 liters of wine.

Joking, one of the women quipped, “See if the barrel is full!” Imagine the look on her face when the other woman responded, “It is! Look, I can touch the wine with my finger.”
