Graphic Designer’s Book “Shadow Dancer” Will Have You Flying At The Poetry Stakes

The book titled ‘Shadow Dancer’ begins with a section of poems titled: ‘Being Me’.

It is in this section of poetry that John lets you see deep into his own heart and soul, laying bare everything from his harsh childhood, from being raised as an abused child by a brutal illiterate father in a small mining town in Derbyshire, to its life as it is today. With poems that portray his feelings, his hopes and his fears, it is clear to all who read how much strength of character and determination John had to succeed. He from a humble background he raised himself, to be rewarded with a very varied and interesting life.

One that included a commendation from the police for his bravery and another that earned him a nice job, through his artistic graphic design and illustrative skills, he proudly worked at Her Majesty’s Theater for the Phantom of the Opera, and also at Shepperton Studios, where he met and worked with Sylvester Stallone and many, many other wonderful stars. But this is just one of many sections in the book, because John writes on everything from romance, literature, history, horror, war, animals, and social commentary.

There is nothing lacking in this book as it really shows off all of John’s skillful artistry, both in his flowing poetic words and in the great illustrations he drew himself to portray each theme. The title of the book ‘Shadow Dancer’ comes from the first poem in the book, this poem portrays the shadow dancer as he dances amongst court leaders throughout the years, beginning in the medieval times of the ancient Britons Ruled by the laws of the Eldritch Witan when Wice spoke of fate throwing bones. He then he danced in the shadow of the Romans when they came to kill under Claudius. Then through the dark ages of Britain’s history during the time of Artwyr the king and the quest for Cerridwen.

He gleefully danced through the chivalric era of the colorful Knights and then, again and again, through all the events of King Henry VIII. She danced throughout the elegant Regency period and sadly danced during the great war. She came the second war and danced not only under her own shadow, but also under the shadow of the swastika. Yes! She dances and dances and dances still today, under the terrifying shadow of the terrorists. Will she ever stop dancing? Yes! After having danced her final dance, to the rhythm of the music of freedoms! This is just a small reflection of the great talent of this Poet! John W.
