Unique clothes, my passion turned into a nightmare

What is your passion or your dream? A common question that a teacher in school always asks. My passion is fashion, especially unique clothes, my dream is to have a lot of unique and beautiful clothes and a lot of unique accessories.

What clothes are considered unique? For me it is a garment, be it a dress, skirt or trousers with a distinctive style, with a unique or unusual design in the form of cut, color or combination of fabrics. It will always stand out from the rest of the clothes when they are placed together. It will always make you the focus point wherever you are and men or women will stop to take a look.

My passion started very young. Since early childhood, I am already a beauty-conscious child, I always wanted to look better when my parents or siblings brought me to visit or shopping. I prefer not to go out if I am not satisfied with myself that day. I usually look at myself in the mirror from time to time. I’ll stop in front of every mirror I pass by in a mall,

During my teenage years, I am always the best dressed among my peers, spending hours choosing and matching my outfit the night before any outing. I spend a lot of my pocket money on beauty and fashion magazine to get the latest update on fashion trends. I have always wanted to look different from my peers, so I always buy unique and trendy clothes that will make me unique and outstanding. To stand out among them, I always look for a new style and look.

As time went by, friends began to come to me for help and advice, so I became their fashion consultant, teaching them how to dress and what to wear. Then they start borrowing all my precious unique clothes, which I am quite reluctant to lend to them. All the clothes that went out, only half came back, which eventually leads me to start my own boutique.

It was a dream come true, a passion turned into a career. Most people will be very happy to be able to have a passion or hobby as their career. Yes, I am happy too, now I have a lot of unique clothes. It is a difficult challenge to get all these clothes and daily dealing with dust particles from these clothes had caused my face to itch with rashes. After spending a lot of money on beauticians, doctors and even specialists, I still get this itch from time to time.

Now, I no longer stop at any mirror I pass by and I don’t feel like dressing up so much. My focus has shifted to dressing my client instead of dressing myself. For a beauty-conscious lady, it was a very, very big sacrifice. To completely cure my itch, I advise you to give up my passion and career. At the moment, I’m still trying to find a way out. I love my passion and my career and I believe there will be a way out.

PS A bit of comfort when the client comes back and tells me this. “Thank you Jeneve, thank you for dressing me, my colleagues and friends said that my clothes are unique, I look more beautiful and more confident now.”
