The 10 most expensive vintage toys sold on eBay

Children and adults have very different relationships with toys. Children like to play with them, and adults tend to want to keep them pristine and unopened for eternity. Oh good. In many but not all cases, it’s those unopened toys that fetch the highest prices on eBay. Some of these auctions make you see the garbage stored in your attic in a whole new way. Here are 10 of the most expensive toys sold so far on eBay.

1. Antique Teddy Roosevelt Marble
That’s correct: a marble. Made around 1900, it is a transparent marble that encloses a representation of former President Teddy Roosevelt. Only three are known to exist, which accounts for the $ 4,500 he fetched at auction.

2. Aquaman comic from the 1960s
Aquaman has achieved iconic status since its inception in the 1960s by Paul Norris and Mort Weisinger, and classic Aquaman comics can make a dime. This meticulously kept comic had a winning bid of $ 5,000!

3. Space rocket Yoshiya Super Sonic
This Japanese marvel featured technology like engine lights and something called hit-and-run action. This particular specimen was very well cared for, with the lithograph in perfect condition. That would help explain the winning bid of $ 4,800.

4. 1984 Star Wars POTF Tri Logo Ewok Combat Playpack
These are extremely rare, despite being under 30 years old, so they get the best price and sell fast. This one in particular was never opened, making it more collectible. Top offer? $ 5,998.98.

5. Robot Tetsujin Jumbo Machiner from the 70’s
It looks like a Transformer and was actually made by the same company, Bandai. The ones marketed in Japan, like this one, were made from the same type of plastic as shampoo bottles. It was for $ 6,500.

6. Dunhill leather backgammon set
Made by Dunhill of Paris in 1970, this backgammon set features real leather triangles and a hand-stitched leather case. There aren’t many of them left, which accounts for the winning bid of $ 7,500.

7. French puppets, ca. 1985
The specimen in question is a cat design made by an expert puppet maker at Atelier France. When it was auctioned in 2010, it was approximately 25 years old and sold for $ 8,900.

8. Radicon Robot Japan 1957
This was the original RC robot toy, dating back to 1957. It was a serious engineering toy for the time, and the Masudaya company also attracted attention for the toy’s thick tin. This was one of a set of 5 different models and it cost $ 8,999.

9. Hand-painted Marklin Beer Wagon
Toy beer wagons are not made in large numbers, especially those that are hand painted. This one is 15 inches long, and while it was missing a few barrels, it still sold for $ 9,000.

10. GI Joe 1994 Manimals Vortex MOC C-7
Sure, it looks like one of millions of blister-packed toys from the 1990s, but in fact only two are known to exist, and this one has never been opened. It was for a whopping $ 20,100 (plus $ 7.50 for shipping and handling).
