Computer Backup – Forget About It!

Backup software it’s for the birds! Computer Backup it’s too hard, too much trouble and a pain in the butt. Forget it.

Backup software is touted as the savior of critical business and personal files on your computer. They claim that all computer hard drives (where our files are stored) will eventually have a 100% failure rate. They are trying to tell us that the failure of our hard drives is just a matter of WHEN, not IF.

BACKUP SOFTWARE: LET’S BE REAL

You and I know the true story. The real story is that new computers are so well made that they almost never fail, right?

So we don’t have to worry about buying backup software and setting up a computer backup system, right? It would be a waste of time, for sure!

After all, we know that all the press on hard drive failures, natural disasters, and terrorist attacks is just a conspiracy by backup software companies to get us to buy their products.

Personally, I never had a hard drive failure (which I remember). If my computer stops working for whatever reason, that’s life.

Therefore I ignore these software backup companies that try to bring their backup software products to the unsuspecting public even though they make it easy to restore data and files. I don’t give them the time of day.

So, as you see, I don’t need a backup software, right? Of course, no.

BACKUP SOFTWARE – STARTING AGAIN WITHOUT THIS IS EASY

In the unlikely event that I have a virus or a bunch of spyware on my computers, I’ll just try my best and move on. After all, if I lost all my data to a virus, so what? Who Needs Backup Software?

Heck, I’d buy myself a new computer and start over and still don’t need backup software because it’s too complicated.

If ALL my business data were to be lost due to hard drive failure or virus corruption, then I would simply start my business all over again. It is not a big thing. It’s not that difficult, is it? Using backup software is just a hassle.

IMPOSSIBILITY OF BACKUP SOFTWARE

So by now, we all agree that using backup software for computer backup is just for dummies, right? Correct.

Who would want to use backup software that automatically and easily backs up EVERYTHING on your computer’s hard drive to a rewritable DVD disc or USB external hard drive? That would mean that you could easily recover from any computer disaster. That makes too much sense and is too logical.

They claim that the backup software is a virtual computer insurance policy against fire, flood, theft, earthquake, hurricane, tornado, and terrorist attack.

Nonsense!

Ridiculous.

Hey, companies that survived Hurricane Katrina didn’t need backup software, right? Okay, okay, I admit that many companies without external backup and backup software lost EVERYTHING and are now unable to recover their data and rebuild their business. But that is life. Now these companies and their employees can move on to something new. Interesting!

Look, life without backup software is much more interesting.

By the way, did I tell you how much I enjoy playing Russian roulette?

Did I forget to mention my short stay (it was actually only a few days) in the mental hospital? Ahh, that’s ancient history. Let’s go back to the present.

BACKUP SOFTWARE – CURRENT

Do you want to hear something silly? My friend Ben, in New Orleans, owned an insurance company. He made a very good life for himself and his family. He also didn’t believe in backup software. All of their computers were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

Ben just laughed and said, “No problem, this disaster gives me the opportunity to write the Great American Novel I’ve always dreamed of writing.”

What about your 10 employees and your thousands of customers who asked you? Ben said, “Hell, things always work out right, right?”

What about the income from the business that supported your family was asked? Ben said, “Oh, FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) told me they would take care of us and not worry.”

Ben is ready and no worse for wear and tear even though he had no backup software.

BACKUP SOFTWARE LESSONS

So boys and girls, what have we learned about this backup software?

* If we don’t have backup software what, it just makes life after hard drive crash more interesting and fun.

* After a natural disaster that destroys your computers, FEMA will fix it.

* All the fuss about backup software is just a bunch of hype to sell products.

* Just because you like to play Russian roulette, you are not really crazy.
